Bedroom Farce Wrap-up

The cast and crew of Bedroom Farce would like to thank everyone for coming out to see the play. Stacey Fownes did a fantastic job directing this play and deserves credit for getting Bedford Players to produce this play.

Congratulations to Dave and Alleen Parsons on their 44th anniversary during this production. Dave and Alleen have been long-time members of Bedford Players in various capacities.

Dave Parsons, our set designer, had the task of creating three bedrooms from three different buildings on our small stage. Incredible job, Dave! Stacey Fownes also made a change from the script and put Ernest and Delia's bedroom in the middle to balance out the drama from the other bedrooms.

Alleen recently nominated for and attended the Bedford Volunteer Recognition luncheon. Not only has Alleen been busy with her many hats at Bedford Players, but she's also involved with Bedford Singers and All Saints Anglican Church.

We also have to give a big congratulations to Matthew Garner for his wonderful work on the lights and sound. It was his first time at the job and his first time with Bedford Players. And it was a more challenging lights job than our previous productions. We hope he comes back!

Long-time Bedford Players member John Slor was nominated for the Volunteer Award at the Merritt Awards. Since he didn't win, it was decided to recognize John's work one night of the play. John was surprised and a little choked up. John has acted, helped with just about every job and made us all laugh. John, we thank you for your time with Bedford Players and hope you come back in some capacity.

Also thanked one night was Dick Sircom for his contribution of the desk. Dick built the desk for Dartmouth Player's production of Bedroom Farce a few years ago. Audiences loved it! Thanks Dick and Dartmouth Players for loaning us the prop.

Between ticket sales and the donation bucket, over $1000 was donated to the Red Cross for the relief effort in Haiti. A big thank you to everyone for coming and contributing extra.

Your reviews have been appreciated by the director, cast and crew.

The wrap party was filled with nice people, tasty food and a few tears as the production ended.

Annual General Meeting

Bedford Players will be holding its AGM on June 6th. Details to be announced later.

Busybody

Our Fall 2010 production is Busybody by Jack Popplewell and will be directed by Robin Saywood.

This hilarious play centers on a voluble cleaning woman who lives in the basement of the office building she cleans. One night she finds a body. By the time the police arrive, there is no body and no evidence.

Auditions will be held August 29th and 30th at 7pm at Bedford Players Theatre (All Saints Church Hall), 1408 Bedford Highway.

Busybody will run from October 28th to November 13th (Thursdays to Saturdays) with a matinee November 7th.

There will be a play read of Busybody on Wednesday, May 12th at 6:30pm at the theatre. All welcome.

Please check our website for updated information.

Play Reads

There will be a play read of Busybody by Jack Popplewell on Wednesday, May 12th at 6:30pm at the theatre. Details above.

There will also be a play read of The Busybody by Susanna Centlivre on Wednesday, May 26th at 6:30pm at the theatre. This is a different play than our Fall production of Busybody. The details: Two young women of "marriageable age". Two young men, interested in these two young women. Two parents determined to keep the young men well away from the young women. Two servants, full of cunning plans. And one busybody.

All are welcome.
